Privacy policy
Last updated 2026-10-29.
The short version
Pots & Plans helps you plan meals and share food with people you choose. We keep only what the app needs to do that, we never sell it, and you can delete your account and everything in it from Settings at any time.
What we keep
Your account: your first name (and last name, if you add one), your username, your date of birth, your email address and password (stored scrambled by our provider, never readable by us), or your Apple or Google sign-in.
Your username is public: other cooks see it as @username next to your first name. Your date of birth is private: nobody else can see it. We use it only to check that you are 13 or older and so Potsy can wish you a happy birthday.
Your kitchen: your answers (household size, budget, diet, allergies and foods you skip), your household people, plans, grocery lists, pantry, saved recipes and ratings. Allergies count as health information. We keep them private and use them only to keep recipes and posts safe for your table. Other people never see whose allergy it is.
What you share: photos, videos, captions, comments, chat messages, groups and the recipes you post.
Your phone: a notification token if you allow notifications, so we can tell you about likes, comments and messages.
What we never keep
Your exact location. The farmers market map uses it on your phone only and saves just the ZIP code you type. We do not track you across other apps or websites, show ads, or use analytics that follow you.
Who can see what
Your posts, profile (your first name, last name if you add one, username, photo and bio), comments and likes can be seen by other Pots & Plans cooks. Your chats can be seen by the people in them. Your answers, allergies, household, plans, pantry and lists are private, except that the people in your household share one grocery list and see the allergies at its table, without names.
New photos and videos may get a quick automatic check for nudity and violence before others can see them, and people can report anything. Moderators can see reported things to decide what to do.
Who helps us run it
Supabase stores the app’s data and files in the United States and runs our sign-in. Resend sends our sign-in and account emails. GitHub hosts our website and the web version of the app. Expo passes notifications to Apple and Google, who deliver them to your phone. Apple and Google also handle sign-in if you use their accounts. If the automatic image check is on, OpenAI checks new pictures and does not keep them for training. Each of them may use your data only to do that job for us, never for anything of their own.
Potsy answers from the app itself today, so nothing you ask Potsy leaves your phone. If we turn on Potsy’s smarter AI answers later, the questions you ask Potsy would be sent to Anthropic to answer them, and we will update this policy before that happens.
Children
Pots & Plans is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly keep their data. We ask for your date of birth when you make an account, and we do not make one for anyone under 13. If you think a child has an account, tell us and we will delete it.
Deleting your account
Settings, then Delete my account, removes your account, posts, photos, videos, comments, messages, plans, lists and answers. Groups you started pass to the next person who joined. Copies in our backups are gone within 30 days.
